You have a number of options when selling beats, the most common are royalty-free rights and exclusive rights.  Royalty-free allows you to sell the beat for use, but you remain the license holder.  You share the use of the beat but not the royalties.  Royalty-free beats are priced at a lower cost, because the beat can be resold by you, the license holder without any notification or endorsement to previous purchasers.  Exclusive rights are the opposite.  Giving someone exclusive rights means you, the current license holder and beat owner, transfers the ownership to the new license holder.  Exclusive rights comes at a higher cost (sometimes in the thousands), because you are transferring full rights to another party, thus denying you any royalties for the future sale or use of the beat.
